Welcome fellow Webmasters.

This is my FREE Online SEO Ebook. Get Ranked FIRST in Google.

Preface

My Name is Paul L Iddon and I run a small network of websites with varying levels of success.

The basis of all my websites is low cost, low maintenance and very little investment and above all getting search engine traffic.. you do not have to pay for marketing, pay per click or advertising to have a successful website and more often than not these practices actually lose you money, but if you have very little or no investment at all it is still possible to compete with the big boys.

The success of a website lies in getting visitors for FREE from search engines.

Two of my websites right now earn the equivalent of the salary of a decent job, and that's with doing about 30 minutes work per day on each website.

This amounts to earning two salaries for doing one hours work per day !!

I may not be a web millionaire and I'm not even close to it, but I have in the past 5 or so years actually made a living from the Internet, which is not that easy when you consider that less than 1% of web businesses actually make any money.

Now.. I am going to show YOU how to make your website successful.. and what's more I am going to tell you for FREE.

Yes, FREE, I am not going to sell you some ebook for $79, I am going to tell you every single detail, trick, scam and SEO technique used to get your website up there at the top of Google, how to get a high Pagerank (PR ) in Google, and all the pitfalls and stumbling blocks and things you should avoid along the way.

I would suggest that you read these pages completely from start to finish, do not skip through them looking for quick tips, as other pages will explain the possible downfalls of using these tips and don't get bored while wading through the basics at the start of this ebook assuming you already know it.

Chapter 1 The Basics

So you've got a website have you, but its not making any money and you are struggling to make any sort of impact, or perhaps you're thinking of starting one and you have a great idea ? Well join the queue.. did you know that there are more webpages on the Internet than there are people on the planet..and did you know that less than 1% of websites actually make money.

The best point about the Internet is the worldwide potential of an idea or a product. Anybody can set up a website and with hard work and dedication they can also make money from their website, and have people from all over the world purchasing their products or services without the hassle and financial burden of having a shop or an office.

However, because of this the competition is immense. Every day tens of thousands of URL's are registered and tens of thousands of new websites are created, tens of millions of dollars is being spent by webmasters for such things like advertising, buying links, search engine optimization (SEO), buying traffic or using PPC (Pay Per Click). But the downfall is that there are probably tens of thousands of websites similar to yours, selling the same products and services.

So how can YOU compete ? Especially if you have a limited budget, or even no budget at all.

Well, in order to have a successful website you need visitors, obviously if nobody goes to your website then you sell nothing. But how do you get visitors ?

The main source of visitors would be from Search Engines, the main players being Google, MSN and Yahoo.

A search engine is an Internet portal which allows the surfer to type in any keywords or phrases, the search engine will then spider the Internet and come up with search results which contain these keywords and phrases.

So in theory if you have a website selling ebooks, and somebody visits Google search engine and types in a phrase such as "ebook" or "buy ebook" then they should be able to find your website easily... shouldn't they ?

Now the brains out there at this stage should be thinking "Wait a minute, surely there are thousands of websites selling ebooks, and if there are so many then how would my site come up near the top, or at least on the first page ? Surely people would only look at the top few results, it would be a waste of time if my site came up 67th"

Correct.

Web statistics show that 99% of the time a search engine visitor only looks at the FIRST PAGE of results AND from the first page of results they are more than likely to click on the result at the top, in FIRST PLACE.

Internet staticians estimate that from most given searches the searcher would click the results as following from the first ten results displayed by the search engine.

No.1 68%
No.2 34%
No.3 27%
No.4 19%
No.5 13%
No.6. 9%
No.7 6%
No.8 3%
No.9 2%
No.10 less than 1%

The reason this does not total 100% is that some searchers will look at no.1 and no.2 results etc...

So obviously the difference between coming up first and coming up second in search results is huge, at least double in most cases, meaning double the amount of traffic and double the amount of sales.

So for example, if in Google your website was appearing in first place for the keyword "ebook" and there are 10,000 daily searches for this keyword then your website should get 68% of these hits, which is 6800.

However if your website was appearing in second place then it would only receive 3400 hits, a BIG difference. That's 100% more traffic, meaning 100% more sales ! This is why your aim should be to get first place in Google.

But for example if you did have a website selling ebooks, then how would you get your site listed in the search results at all.. or to have any impact then how would you get into the top 10. Surely it must be almost impossible the competition is immense....

Calm down.. I am going to show you what the search engines are looking for, how the results are ranked and how to get your site listed, not only on the first page but in FIRST PLACE ! Its not easy, but it can be done providing you are willing to put the effort in.

If your main keyword phrase is very competitive then you may think this is impossible, however you have to realize that even though "ebook" may be the main keyword there are also thousands of other keyword phrases which are less competitive and you can compete more easily with these phrases to drive search engine traffic to your website.

First of all we have to know that more than 70% of searches on the net are via Google. So Google is the search engine you should concentrate on for optimizing your web site. If you don't have the Google Toolbar then I would strongly advise in downloading it and activating the information icon, you can use the toolbar to see the Google Pagerank of each website page in your browser, and also to view the amount of, and the URL address of the websites linking to that page.

The rank of a page is judged on a scale from 0 - 10, with zero meaning having no rank at all, such as new webpages or sites with little importance, and the big boys having a pagerank of  9 or 10, sites like Yahoo, BBC, MSN and Google.

Now, as I mentioned at the beginning of this page "The success of a website lies in getting visitors for FREE from search engines." So for you to understand why this is so, lets first look at all the other way of getting visitors to your website and the dangers and financial risks involved.
